Notice something different?
No, I didn’t get a haircut.
Breakfast With Nick’s got a whole new look!
The website is re-branded and re-designed. It’s still the same old breakfast, brunch, coffee, and donuts, but now it will be easier to navigate and read, and more aesthetically pleasing.
I’ve worked with the great folks at The Wonder Jam to redevelop the site. I’m very excited about it, and I think it’s a big step in growing Breakfast With Nick.
The front page will still show the most recent posts. You’ll notice new dedicated sections about Breakfast, Beyond, Beer, Mrs. Breakfast With Nick, and Travel. These will let you focus your search on certain topics.
I want to say a special thank you to Adam and Allie Lehman at The Wonder Jam. You seriously need to check out their work. I also want to thank the local businesses who continue to sponsor the site, like Starliner Diner, Kolache Republic, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, Crimson Cup, South of Lane, Village Crepe, One Line Coffee, and Ohio Roller Girls. Make sure you support what they do. They help make the blog possible. (And if you’re interested in advertising or working with me, check here!)
Please be patient while we finish some final tweaks and edits, and while the old site finishes forwarding correctly. But you should be able to find all the old stuff on the site. You can update your RSS feeds to simply breakfastwithnick.com now, too!
But that’s not all!
Remember that breakfast book we did? It’s been three years now since we published it. And if you’ve paid any attention whatsoever to the Columbus dining scene, you know that a LOT has changed. We’ve said good-bye to some classics, but we’ve welcomed even more new faces.
I guess it’s time for a new edition, right? I agree. So…
Breakfast With Nick: Columbus is getting a second edition!
The book will get a massive update to include all the new breakfast, brunch, coffee, and donut places in and around Columbus. We’re reworking some of the featured restaurants, updating photos, even shooting some video because… we’re doing it as an e-book.
I’m very proud and very honored that we’ve sold 2000 copies of the first edition. Columbus has been very generous in supporting me and the book, and I’m especially proud that it’s helped people discover a lot of the hard-working people who run our great local restaurants. While the first edition is certainly still relevant – the restaurants’ stories haven’t changed – I think it will be a challenge to sell another 2000 hard copies, especially given the expense of printing them properly.
The e-book will reach a wider audience and allow us to update it more easily. We’re aiming at a release in spring 2015, so keep an eye on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to follow the process as we work again with the amazing Robin Oatts of Genre Creative.
Thank you to everyone who reads the blog, has bought a book, taken one of my tours, watched the TV segments, read my articles, and shared stories with me. I’m still above-and-beyond amazed at how the blog has grown from a hobby 7.5 years ago. Here’s to many more breakfast adventures!
Happy Breakfasting!
Nick
